How to create videos that will stand out in the crowd

The Internet is flooded with millions of videos nowadays, yet videos are crucial to an online marketing plan. So once you create a video, how do you make it stand out in the sea of videos?

Here are 3 tips that will make your video stand out:

1. Tell a Story

Everyone loves a good story. Tell a story with your video and make sure it includes an introduction, climax, and resolution.

A story has the ability to connect with viewers on an emotional level, enabling them to create an emotional connection to you and your product/service by association. Once you make this connection with your viewer, they are more likely to come back and watch future videos and even buy your products or services.

2. Content

Whether you are creating an instructional video, selling a product, or sharing information, providing the right content is key. It is not only the right content you must provide, but also engaging content.

Video is an easy and entertaining way to provide viewers with informative content. The more unique your content is, it is most likely you will get more views on your video.

3. Promotion

You can create a great video, but it does not mean much if no one sees the video. Promote your video to the right people, not simply a mass blast to the Internet.

If you create a video about the new upcoming marketing practices of 2015, it might be best to target the marketing professionals and CMOs.
Similarly, if you create a video about child care, target the popular mommy blog community.

Communicating Effectively in a One Minute Video

Effective communication is key when delivering a message, particularly when you only have one minute to do so.

Many talk about the 4Cs of effective communication, which can be used to make an emotional connection with consumers. These 4Cs include:

The easiest way to lose your audience is to confuse them. So keep your message simple and clear.

Some may ask: at which point of the message should I communicate my main idea?
The answer: at every point during your message.

Tell your audience what you are going to tell them, tell them, and remind them of what you told them.

Ensure your message is memorable by connecting it to something your audience can relate to. How will you evoke an emotion from your viewer?

Creating a connection from your message to a viewer’s personal life will make sure it resonates.

Are you going to believe a car salesperson who is trying to diagnose you with the flu? No, most of us want the professional opinion of a doctor.

The audience is going to believe who is delivering the message.

Even if you get a viewer to understand your message and make a connection to a problem in their own life, this is no good if you don’t have the credibility to back it up.

For a message to be contagious, it has to be memorable. Your message has to be new, exciting, and evoke an emotional response.

Use the 4Cs and see your effective communication put into action.

How to Create Memorable Video Messaging

Video messaging is becoming more and more dominant. But how do you create messaging that is memorable?

No matter what media your message is in, people are looking for messages that are focused, well-executed, and notable. Should a message have these three things, people will use the message you provide them and take action.

From one of our Gloopt users Kare Anderson, we can follow the A.I.R. formula to create a memorable video.

A – Actionable
Give people a specific and concrete steps they can take, nudge them to take action.

I – Interestingness
Capture attention with an exciting, new, or even outrageous message. People are curious about the things they do not know, so share your message! If your message is interesting enough, people will hear it out even if they didn’t have the intention to listen to it in the first place.

R – Relevance
Make your message relevant to your audience. One way you can do this is by making it more specific to the people you are trying to attract.

3 Tips for Providing High Quality Content in a One-Minute Time Span

With a multitude of technology and tools around us, it is easy to create a video nowadays.  But what about a video with quality content?

With Gloopt, there is a one-minute time span to get your message across.  That may not seem like a long enough period of time, but believe us when we say one minute is plenty of time to provide high quality content.  Here are a few tips and tricks:

1. Tell a Story

Your video should have an introduction, climax, and resolution, just like a story does.  Many people fall into the trap of delivering a sales pitch over video, however this is the easiest way for viewers to lose interest.  Your audience wants to hear what makes your product/service/knowledge/tips the best.  What is the easiest way to do this?  Tell a story.

2. Focus on One Topic

When creating one video, focus on one topic.  Keep your content short & sweet.  If viewers enjoy your video they will most likely come back to watch the next one.

With Gloopt, it is easy to create multiple videos that each have their own topic.  Furthermore, multiple videos means multiple call to action statements, which leads me to the last tip.

3. Call to Action

With every effective video, there should be a call to action, or CTA.  A CTA allows you not only to direct your audience to the next step (whatever that may be) but it also allows you to measure the success of your video.

The Importance of Video when Building your Personal Brand

Why is video so important nowadays when attempting to build your personal brand?

We hear all the time about the importance of video as a marketing tool.  This has been proven true by the dramatic increase in videos being watched on a daily basis.  According to YouTube statistics, there are 4 billion videos watched per day.

But with this high increase in video watching, there is also a drastic decrease in the attention we give to each video.  We are so bombarded by content every day that it is easy for your video to become swallowed up by the other billions of videos.

How to make your video stand out

In order to make an impact on your viewers, show your true personality!  Video is a way to engage with your audience when you aren’t physically there, so you have to make an impression.  In our last blog post we mentioned it takes between 6-10 seconds for a viewer to decide whether or not they will continue watching the video.

This means you have between 6 and 10 seconds to create a connection with your audience.  If you create this emotional connection, you will build trust with your viewers.  Trust can lead to higher engagement or better yet, lead to sales.

Using video is an effective way to communicate your core values and message with viewers.  The manner in which you present yourself and your values through video is how viewers will remember you.  This is particularly important if you are trying to reach a new audience.

After you create your video, the last step is to promote it.  If you have great content, don’t be shy to share it!

Keep Retention with a One Minute Video

Many customers ask us, “Why a one minute video? Doesn’t that limit the content we can provide?”

Here at Gloopt, we do not see one minute as a limitation, we see it as a way to deliver a concise message that will capture your audience’s attention.

According to studies by Wistia, the longer a video is, the higher the viewer loss is.

Why One Minute?

Ever heard the phrase “give me a minute”?

Sixty seconds is a brief time span people commonly use because it doesn’t take much time away from our busy schedules.  The phrase “give me a minute” is used so frequently because we have enough time in one day to give up one minute.  We are more likely to wait for someone if they are running one minute late versus five minutes late, or wait in line for one minute versus five minutes.

Similarly, we are more likely to watch a video if it is one minute long than if it is five minutes long.

A viewer decides in 6-10 seconds whether or not they will watch the entire length of a video.  If your video is only 60 seconds long, your viewer could already be 1/6 through your video, and they will most likely continue watching it.

It may take some practice to get used to the one minute timespan, however we believe this is the best method to keep viewer retention.
